Following the announcement earlier this year of Sony Music Entertainment Middle East’s catalogue and multi-single deal with Egyptian Mahraganat label 100 Copies, the latest smash from El Sawareekh has landed titled “El Bent Theb”
The Egyptian Sensations – Dokdok & Bassem Fanky – are best known for their hit “Laa Laa” back in 201; the summer hit of 2018 throughout the Arab world. The record has surpassed 100 millions streams worldwide.
The new hit release – El Bent Theb (Arabic) – which means “The Girl Loves” in English, is the Duo’s first release under the Sony Music banner and it is set to be another summer smash. The single is an energetic, upbeat trap infused Egyptian shaabi record, which blends Basem’s catchy lyrics and vocals with Fanky’s unique style.
The song talks about the never-ending dilemma of “What Women Want”. DokDok’s lyrics do this in a positive way, speaking directly to Egyptian men and how they need to treat women in all aspects of their lives, delivered with catchy and whimsical lines. It is a song that will grow and grow this year.
“El Bent Theb” is one of many hits to come as part of the Sony Music’s Mahraganat release plan. With a packed schedule throughout the summer, look out for more announcements in the coming weeks as Sony Music and 100 Copies continue to build the new stars of the Egyptian Mahraganat scene. Speaking on the release, Mike Fairburn, General Manager of Sony Music Entertainment Middle East commented, ‘Sawareekh are sensational, this song is a hit with our partners 100 Copies we are excited to be part of the Mahraganat movement. It is a diverse genre, reflects many aspects of Egyptian youth and we are already seeing global interest on this rapidly growing genre. The song is a smash, and we are looking forward to working with these brilliant talents on more music this summer’
